Where B1 engineers work
B1 engineers are in demand at line stations, where turnaround time is everything and a single certifying engineer may cover multiple movements; at base maintenance facilities running scheduled checks; and increasingly on AOG recovery teams sent out to fix an aircraft that is stuck away from home base.
Because B1 privileges include certain avionics tasks alongside the mechanical scope, dual B1/B2 licence holders are especially sought after by smaller operators and independent MROs who cannot staff both disciplines on every shift.
Why type rating currency decides the shortlist
A licence without the right type rating does not let you certify the aircraft in front of you. Employers filter first on type, then on how recently you worked on it.
